Just got my wand:

Alder is an unyielding wood, yet I have discovered that its ideal owner is not stubborn or obstinate, but often helpful, considerate and most likeable. Whereas most wand woods seek similarity in the characters of those they will best serve, alder is unusual in that it seems to desire a nature that is, if not precisely opposite to its own, then certainly of a markedly different type. When an alder wand is happily placed, it becomes a magnificent, loyal helpmate. Of all wand types, alder is best suited to non-verbal spell work, whence comes its reputation for being suitable only for the most advanced witches and wizards.

Phoenix Feather

This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.

Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.

13-3/4", surprisingly swishy. Awesome, perfect wand. This rocks. Feel free to add me.

Sometimes, I wish there was a technology that could get everything from inside my brain and magically create words and pictures. That would be a really terrible and terrifying technology, but still... I have so much in my mind that's fighting for a way out. It's like a Three Stooges bit in there, with all three of them trying to get through a doorway at once. It's a jam and nothing's moving. My brain's outlet valve is constipated. (And how's that for a mixed metaphor? Or whatever it was that I just wrote.)

Singing Vivaldi's Gloria in choir. It is simply a glorious work. Just astounding to listen to - and perform. I have sung this before, many years ago. It's not easy, but it is SO gorgeous.

Also, I have been reading Franken Fran and Chii's Sweet Home! I'm loving both of them. :]

Not much to say. The past two days, I've been trying to clear out my read it later thing. Saving links, marking as read, etc. I'm a packrat, even on the internet, it seems.
guitar and musicCollapse )
And I've written way too much about that. Do I have any guitarists on my friends list nowadays?

Today, I had the TV on and Paranormal State was on in the background. I got about halfway through, but remembered I needed to walk to the post office. I don't know why I've been kind of jumpy lately, but I have been. Broad daylight and I've got my legs tucked up under me (so the grabby monsters under the chair can't get my ankles) and holding my breath. I went for the walk to the post office. Usually these shows don't really get to me. idk. I'm gonna go finish it now.

ETA: Yeah, still creeped out. this post is getting longCollapse )

Silly me, starting off a post saying "Not much to say." :P

I haven't felt much like socializing lately. That's not the best way to start things out here, but what can you do?

There's something I look forward to watching every Saturday night: Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians on public TV. Most Saturdays at 6:30, I tune in to IPTV and watch the show. I love the music and the singers, and I love watching the people dance. I love the clothes and the hair. I wonder about the dancers. That's a newlywed couple, that one's been together for a long time, that's their first date. I enjoy my weekly half hour back in time.

If I'm feeling particularly nostalgic, I'll stick around for some Lawrence Welk, especially the older ones. My grandpa never missed Lawrence Welk. (Or Jeopardy!) I wish I'd kept his record collection.

Well, I'm gonna go check out the FFA in ontdcreepy.

I hope you all have a great week.

I thought it'd be a poor way to start off the whole "gonna take a picture every single day!" thing by skipping the first day.

This is the blanket my mom made me for Xmas.

I've always been awkward with introductions. I mean, where do you start? Go the David Copperfield way? Do it like an autobiography? Should I write as if I'm speaking with someone face to face? This might be bumpy, folks.

oh criminitly, I"m gonna need a cut for thisCollapse )

Later, gators. Looking forward to getting to know y'all.

ETA: I'll go back to tinkering with the layout later, and I'll try to answer any questions anyone might have. I reserve the right to be shy, though, haha.

ETAA: (Five seconds after the previous edit) Oh hell, I hope this layout's readable.

I'm suddenly feeling rather self-conscious about having added bunches of people and having almost no content here. Hi, people I've added! I will absolutely not be offended ever if I'm defriended or not added to begin with.

I'm going to:
1) Tinker around with layout/colors and things.
2) Keep adding more of you lovely folks from ontdcreepy. <3 you guys.
3) Do an "about me" post.
4) ???
5) Profit!

I should probably change my journal's holiday background/colors. And it just occurred to me that I have a plus account. I never see ads because I have adblock plus and removeitpermanently. Note to self; See how things look in Chrome.

I'm home sick for the second day in a row. I have a cold. Ugh. I have asthma and it seems like every time I get sick, it attacks my lungs. Mean old viruses.

I'm gonna be Twilight Zone marathoning later. Booyeah. Maybe I should go get snacks. And also some wine. Wait, no wine for me. Cold medicine + alcohol = probably a bad idea.
